Loughborough University is a public research university in the market town of Loughborough, Leicestershire, England. It has been a university since 1966, but it dates back to 1909, when Loughborough Technical Institute began with a focus on skills directly applicable in the wider world. In March 2013, the university announced it had bought the former broadcast centre at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park as a second campus. The annual income of the institution for 2021–22 was £328 million of which £39.2 million was from research grants and contracts, with an expenditure of £379.4 million.

Loughborough Students’ Union (LSU) is entirely run by our students, for our students, and it sits right in the very heart of our award-winning student experience. There are over 100 societies to get involved in at LSU, and you can even start your own, so you’ll be able to find the perfect one for you and meet tonnes of new friends.
Of course we are well-known for our sports offerings (of which there are plenty!) but did you know we also have our own extra-curricular arts programme, LU Arts, which hosts a wide range of creative activities and events for you to get involved in.

By day, the Union is a bustling venue with a vibrant atmosphere. By night it transforms into a 4,000-capacity nightclub that hosts different events across the week.
The campus is also recognised as one of the UK’s best green spaces (Green flag awards since 2018), and our commitment to sustainability means we are able to provide top facilities and a fantastic student experience in the most beautiful environment, whilst also ensuring they are managing our environmental impact.

The performance programmes are led by expert coaching staff who are constantly striving to improve both individual and team performance and supported by a wide range of skilled support services. The performance support team provide specialist support from a range of scientific disciplines to develop performance of our top athletes and teams here at Loughborough University.
